Gaza/Sderot (2008) is an interactive documentary produced by Palestinian and Israeli filmmakers for ARTE. It allowed individuals from the Israeli southern city (only two kilometres from the border with Gaza), and Palestinians from Gaza to record their own videos over the course of a few months. While the producers gave voice to people suffering on both sides of the border, the parallel-stories approach masked the ongoing political power dynamics and affirmed a (false) equality between the two sides of the border and gave the impression that Palestine is an autonomous state, like Israel.
